2017 Bible Quiz Winner!

Kesser Torah student Chaimber Hirschowitz is this year’s National Bible Quiz Winner!

The Australian Bible Quiz is part of a global project which brings together students from across the world. The Australian contestants are selected out of the National Bible Quiz, organised by the Zionist Federation of Australia, which was held in Sydney on Sunday 26 November.

There was strong competition amongst the nine finalists; Chaimber Hirschowitz (Chaim) from Kesser Torah College took out this year’s quiz, followed by runner up, Yehuda Einsenberg from Kesser Torah College and then Brett Kaplan and Yoni Brill from Moriah College. As the winner, the ZFA will sponsor Chaim’s ticket to Israel to participate in the International Bible Quiz camp and he has also secured a place in the international Bible Quiz. Runner up, Yehuda, will also represent Australia at the camp and the quiz.

Chaim said: – “I am greatly honoured and privileged to represent Australia in the International Bible quiz held on Yom Hatzmaut 2018. I witnessed my sister Rivka Malka on stage in the finals in Israel two years ago and very much wanted to be part of such an incredible experience. This is also a great opportunity for me to connect to my land, my people and my rich heritage. I am very excited to continue learning the Tanach in depth and being inspired by the countless lessons to be learned. I thank Hashem for this opportunity and the Zionist Federation of Australia for making this dream a reality.”

From here contestants Chaim and runner up Yehuda enter The International Bible Quiz (chidon tanach) which is held in Israel. It is an opportunity for students from all over the world to compete on their knowledge of 400 pages of the Tanach. The winner receives a scholarship to Machon Lev, the Jerusalem College of Technology. The quiz is run by the Education Department of the Israel Defence Force.

Miriam Munz, ZFA Education Chairperson said: – “It was a privilege to watch the contestant’s level of knowledge and commitment to the National Bible Quiz. Their preparation was extraordinary and the ZFA looks forward to them participating on the world stage in Israel.”

Prior to the commencement of the quiz in Israel, the students will enjoy a Tanach Camp with other participants from all over the world, they will go on tours through Israel and meet incredible people from Israel and all over the world.

We wish Chaim and Yehuda Hatzlacha Raba for the next round in Israel.
