🇦🇺 Traditionally ANZAC Day and Yom Hazikaron (Israel’s Memorial Day for fallen soldiers and victims of terror) fall very close to each other, sometimes even on the same day. This year, just 2.5 weeks separate them.

Both are extremely sacred days in their respective calendars and a reminder of the values that bind our two countries – bravery, courage and sacrifice.

There is also a deep connection between the idea of “mateship” – loyalty, friendship and equality – and the Israeli principle of never leaving a soldier behind in the field.

Each year, the Australian Embassy in Israel holds an ANZAC Day Commemorative Service at the Commonwealth Cemetery on Mount Scopus in Jerusalem at dawn. This year, due to the current situation and the Passover holiday, it will take place at the Ramleh War Cemetery in Ramla at 9:30am.

Pictured here is the ZFA’s Israel Office Director Moriah Ben-David who attends these services each year and lays a commemorative wreath on behalf of the ZFA.

We acknowledge the strong relationship between Australia and Israel, and pay tribute to the brave sacrifices made for our ongoing freedom 🇦🇺🇮🇱

The high. price for defending shared values and DEMOCRATIC principals is in focus on these shared days of commemoration.,where we RESPECT LIFE. and FASCIST regimes don’t.

Yesterday, the Gaza Health Ministry said in a press statement that the Israeli army killed 32 Palestinians and wounded 59 others during the past 24 hours, bringing the total death toll to 34,183 and injuries to 77,143, since the Israel-Hamas conflict broke out on Oct. 7, 2023.
