Zionist Seminars
Zionist Seminars have become an integral part of the school year at most Jewish day schools around the country, and for many Jewish students in non-Jewish schools. Zionist Seminars are camps in any or all of Years 8 to 11 with student leaders from Israel designed to infuse Australian Jewish high school students with a flavour of Israel.
With education as one of the key priorities of the ZFA, many resources are invested into bringing to Australia up to five teams of leaders from Israel to run fun, informal and educational camps and activities all around Australia and in New Zealand. Students look forward to these camps knowing they will meet a group of young Israelis with similar ideals and views on life as them, but with a rather different reality. Social interaction with these Israelis goes a long way towards the students' understanding of what life in Israel is really like.
Catering to a vast range of religious and political views, the leaders from Israel come from all around the country and from a variety of different institutions. All go through a stringent selection process by the Jewish Agency for Israel (JAFI) and are then trained specifically for these seminars.
The seminars continue to be a highlight of the school year and a great investment into the future Jewish and Zionist direction of Jewish high school students all over Australasia.
