ZFA Quizzes
Jewish and Zionist education is a very important part of the work of the ZFA. To this end, the ZFA hosts a number of international quizzes aimed mainly at high school students.
The two main annual quizzes are the Bible Quiz and the Jewish Identity Quiz. Each is run according to predetermined guidelines and questions from Israel and the ZFA. The quizzes are run in each major Australian city by the respective State Zionist Council, with national finals held by the ZFA. For both these quizzes, the national winner (and runner-up) have the opportunity to participate in a week-long seminar in Israel prior to an international final in Jerusalem.
Aside from these main two quizzes, from time to time there are quizzes initiated by various authorities in Israel, each with an Israel component as the top prize. Previous such quizzes have included the 'Jerusalem 3000' quiz and the 'Children of the Word Illustrate the Bible'.
The ZFA administers the quizzes, hosts them and ensures that the students are able to participate in the international finals in Israel. Australian students consistently place in the top 10 in the world in the international finals of both the Bible Quiz and the Jewish Identity Quiz. In addition, each quiz with its Israel component as the top prize, is a great incentive for Jewish students from all around the country to study hard and do well.
