Shlichim
Shlichim are an integral part of the functioning of the ZFA and the various State Zionist Councils. Shlichim are emissaries that are sent all over the world. They all go through a stringent selection process by the Jewish Agency for Israel, and are trained specifically for the countries in which they would be serving. They spend a number of years (2-4) in Australia working primarily in informal Jewish education. Most of the Shlichim come from a youth movement background in Israel, and represent these movements in Australia. There are also community and Aliyah Shlichim.
The Shlichim in Australia are vital to the functioning of the youth movements (see Youth & Students) and the ZFA in general. The Shlichim infuse the movements and the entire organisation with a real sense of Israel. They work tirelessly with the community they live in through the various communal organisations as well.
