Zionist Federation of Australia President Jeremy Leibler welcomed Mr Guy’s announcement. “Mr Guy’s commitment to adopt the working definition, coming so soon after the Australian adoption, sends a powerful message to all Victorians. Racism has no place in this state, or in this country.”
Mr Leibler continued, “Just as the Australian adoption of the IHRA definition was achieved with bipartisan consensus, I hope that a Victorian adoption will be, too. The Andrews Government is committed to fighting racism in all its forms, so I call on Mr Andrews to consider also adopting the IHRA definition. The working definition is truly becoming the global standard, as more and more national and state governments, as well as institutions and businesses, are adopting it.”
