Statement on UN General Assembly vote on US recognition of Jerusalem as Israel’s capital:

Dr. Danny Lamm, President of the Zionist Federation of Australia, expressed his disappointment at the shameful United Nations General Assembly vote which called for the United States to rescind their recognition of Jerusalem as the capital of Israel.
“In 2017 alone, the United Nations has had 21 votes condemning Israel for one thing or another, and only 6 in total condemning other countries, and serial Human Rights violators, such as Syria, North Korea and Myanmar. This should tell you all you need to know about the bias against Israel that is so rampant at the United Nations. We commend the nations who either voted against the resolution, abstained – like Australia did – or chose not to participate in this vote at all. The 129 countries that voted in favour of this resolution showed how irresponsible they are, and their very behaviour undermines peace prospects far more than any declaration of the truth by the US could. As Israel’s Ambassador to the United Nations, Danny Danon said, ‘no General Assembly resolution will ever drive us away from Jerusalem’.”
