Today marks the 25th Hebrew anniversary of the assassination of Israeli Prime Minister Yitzhak Rabin z”l.

Rav. David Stav of Tzohar has provided the ZFA with this short video “drash” on the lessons and legacy of Rabin. Tzohar, of which Rav Stav was a founder, was established in the wake of the assassination with the intention to bridge the social divide between the religious and secular.

Rav Stav talks about the two separate “tribes” in Israeli society and how split they were around the time of the assassination. That split remains today and can be seen in the public response to the COVID-19 crisis. And the blaming of the other “tribe” for failing to cooperate with restrictions.

It is a poignant, beautiful, and ultimately hopeful message - an apt way to bring in this Shabbat.
