“If you wait for everyone to agree with you, you will never be a leader” – Rabbi Gersh Lazarow
Our Diller Teen Fellows from the Golan have arrived in Melbourne!
The Zionist Federation of Australia (ZFA) is proud to host the flagship program in Australia. Diller Teen Fellows is a world renowned program, which facilitates an international network of Jewish teenagers who are selected for their leadership skills and potential to grow into greater governance roles in the future.
Today is day four of their ten day immersion in Melbourne life and they have been welcomed with open arms by their Australian Diller Teen Fellow counterparts and the community.
There has been no time for rest, they started with ice breakers and have visited three different synagogues, had lunch on Carlisle street, volunteered at the Posh Opp Shoppe, met students from Bialik College, Leibler Yavneh College and Mount Scopus, had an impromptu party in the quad and been inspired by a visit to the Emmy Monash aged care centre.
The highly selective program opens the door to a deeply personal and life changing exploration of Jewish identity and provides tools for leadership and activism. One of the key pillars of the program is exploring the diversity of Jewish life.
Each cohort represents the local Jewish community, in all its multiplicity, allowing the fellows to interact with and understand Jews from different religious, social and cultural backgrounds.
This program would not be the success it is without the tireless effort and energy of our Melbourne coordinator Elle Golvan. We also welcome the Golan group’s coordinator, Liat Shaked, Diller Teen Fellows Eyal Ron and counsellor Nirit!
