What we were talking about this week…

Another message for the Australian Greens

Last week, the Zionist Federation of Australia called on Australian Greens leader, Senator Richard Di Natale to condemn the environmental terrorism being perpetrated against Israel, but not surprisingly we heard nothing but the sound of crickets. So I thought perhaps he needed a little more information, and sent him this video from the Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The ball is still in his court. Has he completely abandoned his environmental principles or is it less of a crime when it happens to Israelis?

Relocation of aid to the Palestinian Authority

Earlier in the week, the ZFA welcomed a decision by Foreign Minister Julie Bishop MP and the Australian Government to cease funding of the World Bank’s Multi-Donor Trust Fund for the Palestinian Recovery and Development Program because “opportunity for it to use its own budget to activities that Australia would never support”.

The ZFA wholeheartedly agreed with the sentiment that “any assistance provided by the Palestine Liberation Organisation to those convicted of politically motivated violence is an affront to Australian values, and undermines the prospect of meaningful peace between Israel and the Palestinians.”

Just last week FM Bishop announced that there would be a full audit of Australian government funding of another organisation – Union Aid Abroad – to ensure there is no misuse of funds.

At the time, President of the ZFA Dr. Danny Lamm AM said, “The Zionist Federation of Australia welcomes the Foreign Minister’s decision and the statement of Senator Eric Abetz on the issue of channeling taxpayer funds into organisations that support Palestinian terrorist groups. As I have stated previously, our government must, as a matter of urgency, cease all funding of the Palestinian Authority until a full audit is completed.”

In light of the most recent government decision, Dr Lamm said, “we take this as a strong sign that the Government is taking this issue very seriously and will take immediate action when the situation arises.”

PA funding of terrorists continued…

While on the topic of funding terrorists…

As this video from Palestinian Media Watch watch shows, the glorification of terrorists is widespread in Palestinian society – with the families of terrorists regularly hailing their loved ones on PA-controlled television as heroes.

But it is not just the constant praise they receive, be it on television, or by having public places named after them that is the major issue. No, the major issue is that this praised is backed up by a handsome salary to the terrorist and their families.

PMW explains, “Habbes Bayyoud, Muhammad Nawarah, and Jawad Abu Qara – Palestinian terrorists who participated in the Ramallah lynching on Oct. 12, 2000, in which a Palestinian mob brutally murdered and mutilated the bodies of two Israeli reserve soldiers, Vadim Nurzhitz and Yossi Avrahami, who had accidentally entered Ramallah. Bayyoud is serving 2 life sentences, Nawarah is serving 1 life sentence, Abu Qara is serving 25 years.

Under Palestinian Authority law, the PA pays Bayyoud, Nawarah, and Abu Qara and thousands of other terrorist prisoners monthly salaries from the day of their arrest.
Since their arrests (in 2001 and 2002) through June 2018, the PA has paid Bayyoud, Nawarah, and Abu Qara a combined total of 2,023,600 shekels ($583,606). Their current salary of 7,000 shekels/month each will increase until reaching 12,000 shekels/month each.”

So yes, I am glad that the Australian Government has ceased funding one organisation. But until I can be certain that our tax dollars are not reaching a single organisation that somehow receives funds through the Palestinian Authority to pay terrorists and their families, I will not be completely satisfied.

Israel passes law relating to PA funding terrorists

The Israeli Knesset passed a law – in a vote of 87 to 15 – essentially saying the same amount of money that the PA pays out to terrorists and their families will be deducted tax revenues that Israel transfers annually to the PA.

This sounds reasonable to me.

But not to PA Chairman Mahmoud Abbas, whose spokesman released a statement saying that the legislation crossed a red line and amounted to a “declaration of war on the Palestinian people.”

Hey Mahmoud Abbas -I would say that the terrorist attack itself is the “declaration of war” and not the measures taken to prevent terrorists and their families from profiting from those attacks.

Israel steals Iranian clouds??

The Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs said:

Brigadier General Gholam Reza Jalali, head of Iran’s Civil Defense Organization, has accused Israel of causing climate change in Iran by stealing the water out of clouds passing over the Mediterranean.

Israel really does need those clouds!

See, Iran finances Hamas, a terror organization in Gaza which is responsible for arson terror and setting fires to Israeli fields and endangering civilians. Clouds, and water in general, are very helpful in putting out fires….
