ZFA NEWSLETTER July 11 2014
We sit many thousands of miles away from Israel, but over the past few weeks our minds, prayers and hearts have been with our Jewish Homeland.
The Australian community cried out #BringBackOurBoys. We gathered in states across Australia, on Bondi Beach, in Caulfield, Brisbane, Dianella. We put our arms around one another and reached for answers.
As the first answer came and the bodies of Naftali Fraenkel, Gil-Ad Shaar and Eyal Yifrach were buried, the Australian community again came together, this time in prayer across the nation, at Beth Weizmann, Moriah College, Maons, in homes, we wrote letters to the families, gave tzedakkah in their honour and lit candles no longer in hope but in memory.
We mourned the loss of young life that never had a chance to evolve, we mourned with the families who will never hold Naftali, Gil-Ad and Eyal in their arms again, for the friends who carry the memories and for the nation that pays this dear price.
We also grieve for the family of Mohammed Abu Khdeir, please read the ZFA joint statement here
May their memories be a source of blessing – Yehi zichram baruch.
