P2G is part of a global network of over 45 Partnerships that aims to be the central network for the promotion of connection between Jewish communities and developing Jewish Peoplehood. P2G has become the paradigm for successfully partnering global Jewish communities directly with Israeli communities. Australia has been partnered with the Central Arava since 1995.

השותפות שלנו מבוססת על קשרים בין אישיים המחברים את העם היהודי ומחזקים את הקשר בין ישראל לתפוצות.
השנה, לקראת ליל הסדר, היה לנו חשוב לשקף לחברינו באוסטרליה את הכאב המקומי של הערבה. בהסכמת המשפחות, ייצרנו נספח להגדה של פסח לקהילה האוסטרלית על "ארבת הבנים הנופלים של הערבה".
ארבעת הבנים של הגדה של פסח מלמדים אותנו שכל ילד- וכפועל יוצא, כל יהודי ויהודייה- שונים אחד מהשני. לכולנו שאלות ייחודיות, וכולנו זקוקים לתשובות פרטניות. הנופלים אינם שמות וסטטיסטיקות, אלא עולמות רחבים של דעות ושאלות המחפשות תשובות.

As we approach the Pesach Seder, we would really like to share with you this project that the Arava Australia Partnership has put together that offers Australian Jews the opportunity to connect with Israel on a personal level.
We are sharing the story of the four young men from the Arava killed in IDF service since 7 October. Just as the four sons of the Hagaddah teach us that every child is unique, with their own questions that demand their own answers, so too were the four fallen sons of the Arava, and by extension all 604 fallen Israeli servicemembers.
Of course, we could—and should—focus on a variety of topics as we gather with our families on this special night, such as the 133 hostages, the over 800 civilians killed, and the thousands of wounded and displaced.
But as a Partnership community with the Arava, this would be our way as Australians to understand the particular pain as a small, quiet rural community that will be missing four of its sons at the Seder tomorrow night.
The Cohen, Shakotai, Elias and Shahar families have all seen this document and given it their blessing.
L’Shanah HaBa’ah Birushalayim HaB’nuyah. By the Seder, and certainly by next year, may we merit to celebrate a true festival of freedom, redemption, resilience and connection.
