Position vacant: Public Affairs Officer

Are you our next public affairs officer?

About the role
The Zionist Federation of Australia is a representative roof body of the Australian Jewish and Zionist community. It fosters a deep connection between Australia and Israel, and advocates for Israel here in Australia.

We are looking for a communications professional to manage external and internal comms to join our public affairs department team of four people. We’re responsible for research, government relations, internal and external communications and social media output.

In this role you will:

  • Draft statements and longer pieces for media
  • Prepare our regular newsletter and other content designed for the Australian Jewish community
  • Ensure the ZFA website is effectively maintained and continually updated with quality content including the ZFA’s statements, articles and updates on events and activities of the organisation
  • Manage the logistics behind our online meetings and webinars
  • Manage internal communications, such as quarterly and annual reports
  • Shape how the ZFA message gets ‘out there’
  • Be involved in (and potentially manage) events, programs for visiting speakers and delegations and other community engagements

About you
You’re a communications professional with a deep desire for a strong Australia–Israel relationship, and for Israel’s story to be heard.

You’ll bring experience in a comms role, a flair for writing and graphics, and a deft hand when it comes to community engagement.

This is designed as a full-time position, but we will consider part-time arrangements for exceptional candidates.

This position reports directly to the director of public affairs.

The position is in Melbourne, but we will consider Sydney-based applicants.
