Meet the Diller Teen Fellows

The leaders of today, not just tomorrow.

Friday, 19th February, 2016

The ZFA is proud to be the facilitating body for this exceptional leadership program that is being piloted in Melbourne. The participants had to apply and complete a rigorous interview process to be selected. Those chosen are made up of year 10 and 11 students from six different schools; Bialik, King David, Liebler Yavneh College, McKinnon Secondary College, Methodist Ladies College and Mount Scopus College. They come from a variety of different religious affiliations. They recently held their first Shabbaton and spent time getting to know one another.

Spearheading this program is Ellie Golvan who said that: – “It was very special to see the group come together for a Shabbat and share their own personal experiences of Shabbat in a meaningful and respectful way. The Diller Teen Fellows program is a unique multi-faceted program, creating an international network of leaders in our community. It’s important to look at this group as the young leaders of today and to invest in them in order to give them tools to impact our community in a positive way.”

Diller Teen Fellows and alumni (there are over 2000) are encouraged to form an international network of Jewish leaders who will creatively and collaboratively engage in activism and community leadership.

ZFA Executive Director Ginette Searle says: – “At a time when it is increasingly difficult to engage young adults in Jewish and Israel-related activity, the potential of a program which provides tools, knowledge and importantly motivation for young leaders to take continuing active roles is priceless.”
