Zionist Federation of Australia President Dr. Danny Lamm expressed his disappointment with comments made by Labor MP Anthony Albanese during an interview on the ABC program “the Insiders” on Sunday morning.
“I noticed that in the five minutes where Mr Albanese spoke at length about the situation along the Gazan border, he did not once mention Hamas, despite the terrorist organisation’s going on record on numerous occasions to boast about their heavy involvement in the riots. While he was quick to criticise the Government, Mr. Albanese spoke at length about proportion, suggesting that the lack of fatalities on the Israeli side requires an explanation. Perhaps the MP needs to brush up on his knowledge of what is proportionate when it comes to rules of engagement.”
He continued, “when Mr. Albanese stated that he is ‘a strong supporter of Israel’s right to exist within secure borders’, he should have stopped there, because that is the heart of the issue. Hamas does not believe in any part of that sentence, and until they do, until they stop violently attacking Israel’s sovereign border, there will be no peace.”
