The Zionist Federation of Australia extends condolences on behalf of the Australian Jewish community to Israel’s President, Isaac Herzog and his family on the passing of his mother and former First Lady Aura Herzog z”l.
Born in Egypt to parents from Jaffa, Aura was a member of the Hagannah in pre-state Israel and, later, founded environmental group Committee for a Beautiful Israel. She was later First Lady to President Chaim Herzog.
She leaves behind four children, 11 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
We send the entire Herzog family our deepest sympathies and wishes for a long life.
May her memory be a blessing, for her family and friends, the State of Israel and the Jewish world.
