The Zionist Federation of Australia questioned the National Press Club’s decision to invite UN Special Rapporteur Francesca Albanese to speak.
ZFA Director of Public Affairs Bren Carlill said, “The fact that a supposedly neutral UN official is being sponsored by an organisation that supports the discriminatory BDS movement and doesn’t support a peaceful, negotiated two-state outcome to the Israel-Palestinian conflict should have raised red flags. A quick google would have revealed for the Press Club Ms Albanese’s refusals to condemn terrorism, her denial of Jewish indigeneity to the land and her antisemitic comparison of Israel to Nazi Germany. She’s an activist, not an academic, and shouldn’t be given a stage by the Press Club.”
