The Zionist Federation of Australia welcomes Senator Sarah Henderson’s call for a Senate inquiry into campus antisemitism.
ZFA President Jeremy Leibler said, “The situation on campus is untenable. We call on the Government to support this inquiry, to ensure Jewish students feel safe on campus.”
ZFA CEO Alon Cassuto said, “There is an urgent need for strong leadership to make our campuses free of hate. For months students have experienced escalating hate speech, harassment, intimidation, and radical non-student activists on campuses with little to no intervention. Enough is enough.”
Background
In August last year, the Zionist Federation of Australia released a nationwide survey of Jewish students that found that two-thirds had experienced antisemitism on campus, and a quarter had been involuntarily singled out or excluded over issues related to Israel.
