Plenary Conference

Plenary 2023

The 2023 Zionist Federation of Australia Plenary Conference was held in Sydney on 27 August 2023. (We hold Plenary conferences every second year.)

Leading Jewish educator and Zionist thinker Rabbi Dr Donniel Hartman gave the keynote address.

We followed that up with a panel discussion about our survey of Jewish university students and their experiences of antisemitism on campus. The panel was formed by independent federal Member of Parliament Allegra Spender, President of the Executive Council of Australian Jewry Jillian Segal AO, and President of the Australasian Union of Jewish Students Alissa Foster.

We also had addresses from the Deputy Prime Minister Richard Marles and Israel’s ambassador to Australia Amir Maimon.

On top of that was an interactive workshop, and a live-streamed ZFA Conversation, with Rabbi Hartman taking the stage once again, this time conversing with ZFA President Jeremy Leibler.

Happily, we’ve put a whole lot of what happened at the ZFA conference up on YouTube. Check out our year in review video, the President’s address, Rabbi Hartman’s keynote address, the antisemitism survey panel and the ZFA Conversation – they’re all below.

The Plenary Conference had great write-ups in JWire and the Australian Jewish News.
