Cry for You

In 9 days, the Zionist Federation of Australia will be commemorating 25 years since the assassination of Israeli Prime Minister Yitzhak Rabin z"lin an online ceremony which will take place right here on our Facebook page.

The night that Yitzhak Rabin was assassinated was definitely one of those moments in history where you remember exactly where you were when you first heard the news. For us, it was not just that fatal night (which was actually the early hours of Sunday morning here in Australia) but also the days and weeks of mourning and sorrow that followed.

On the night of the peace rally, Israeli artist Aviv Geffen performed his song "Livkot Lecha" (Cry for You), which later became one of the defining "anthems" of a grieving country following Rabin's assassination.

This grainy footage was taken a week later, while the country was still coming to grips with the murder of their Prime Minister.

Next Thursday,29 October 2020 at 8pm AEDT (7:30pm South Australia, 7pm Queensland, 5pm Western Australia, 11am Israel), along with an oration by Omer Bar Lev and a special appearance from Dalia Rabin, we will have the most beautiful version of the song being performed by amazing local talent. So join us in remembering Yitzhak Rabin, 25 years on.
