The Zionist Federation of Australia congratulates Benjamin Netanyahu on becoming prime minister of Israel.
ZFA President Jeremy Leibler said, “We congratulate Prime Minister Netanyahu on forming his new government, and sincerely hope it ushers in a period of stability and calm. The Australian Jewish community looks forward to continuing to strengthen its special bond with the State of Israel and wishes Prime Minister Netanyahu the very best of luck in addressing the significant challenges facing the State of Israel and Diaspora Jewry.”
Mr Leibler continued, “We are proud that the Australian Jewish community is one of the most Zionist and passionate diaspora communities anywhere in the world. We hope and expect that the genuine concerns that we and other Jewish organisations around the world have expressed about the statements and positions of some of Netanyahu’s coalition partners will be taken seriously. Ultimately, this Government will be judged by its actions, and we hope that all members of the coalition remember their duty to govern for all Israelis and the importance of maintaining and strengthening the relationship with Diaspora Jewry.”
