The Zionist Federation of Australia mourns the deaths of innocent civilians at the Al Ahli Baptist Hospital in Gaza, and condemns Islamic Jihad, whose rocket killed them.
Mr Leibler said, “Not only are Hamas, Islamic Jihad and other Palestinian groups directly responsible for the deaths of hundreds of Israeli civilians, but they are also directly responsible for the deaths of hundreds of Palestinian civilians.”
Mr Leibler said, “Hamas and Islamic Jihad are death cults. They bring nothing but destruction and misery.”
Mr Leibler concluded, “This incident is another reason why Australian media should be careful about news emanating from Hamas sources, of which the ‘Gaza Health Ministry’ is one. Many news media in Australia breathlessly reported the explosion as Israel’s fault, based on Hamas talking points.”
Background
The Israel Defence Force has confirmed that Israel did not strike the Al Ahli Baptist hospital, and evidence is that the explosion was caused by a failed Palestinian rocket, which was part of a barrage of rockets fired into Israel from Gaza at that time. The size of the explosion indicates the rocket hit stored explosives. It has been known for many years that Hamas stores weapons and explosives in hospitals, schools and other civilian locations. By storing munitions at hospitals, Hamas endangers its own citizens.
Of the thousands of rockets fired into Israel by Hamas and Islamic Jihad in the past 10 days, at least 450 have fallen short and landed within Gaza.
