The Zionist Federation of Australia criticised a mooted conference to be held in Melbourne in late-January, and called on the Victorian Institute for Teaching and the Department of Education to investigate potential breaches in the teachers’ code of conduct.
ZFA President Jeremy Leibler said, “Parents don’t want dangerous radicalisation from the Middle East or elsewhere brought into the classroom.
“This extreme indoctrination is offensive to all Victorians and risks the safety of Jewish students in an already tense environment where antisemitism is on the rise.
“The AEU should distance itself from this toxic propaganda, and Trades Hall should certainly not host it.”
Mr Leibler continued, “This event appears to be a clear breach of the Code of Conduct all Registered Teachers in Victoria must abide by. We call on both the Victorian Institute of Teaching and the Department of Education to take a careful look at the organisers and participants.
Mr Leibler added, “Olive Kids has serious questions to answer regarding its alleged links to a terrorist organisation, and the idea that this event it soliciting funds for that organisation speaks to the real agenda of the organisers.”
